The official disclaimer: Unless tagged "original fiction" or otherwise indicated to be my intellectual property, I do not own the characters or series featured in stories or artwork here.

'Lo, guys. This here is a journal for writing only (mostly); feel free to add [info]aopt if you're interested in those bits of my life that don't involve writing.

At some point I'm going to get all my fic organised. For now, let me direct to my tags, where you may find a modicum of organisation.

Most of what I have archived here is fanfiction, though from time to time I'll post original fiction. I'm best at writing plotty gen, though that's never stopped me from trying other stuff in the past. This has resulted in some terrible fic which you can find here. I would not recommend looking for it.

Speaking of not looking for things, I realise that certain concepts and actions depicted in stories can trigger readers, or otherwise cause them great discomfort. If there's something you need to be warned about, please let me know about it here so that I can be better equipped to cater to your needs. The last thing I want to do is cause anyone unnecessary trauma.

Beyond writing, I also make icons, which are posted infrequently at my shared graphics community, [info]iconsometry, and/or my graphics journal [info]kilograph. I can be found on Dreamwidth as iambickilometer, and also on Twitter.

Fandoms )

I am not always immediately able to read my flist. If something important has changed with you - say, you've switched accounts, moved to Dreamwidth, or acquired a Twitter - feel free to let me know here.

Dear Torchwood fandom:

I am not writing my Big Bang tonight.

I am writing fix-it fic.

Today is July the fifth. It also happens to be my birthday.

So I have decided to have a different sort of PARTY POST! It has steps. It's fairly easy.

1. Scroll down and click the 'post a comment' button.
2. In the comment, type a prompt or request. It doesn't have to be fandom related. It can be for silly lyrics, art, a drabble, or pretty much anything that can be done on a computer.
3. Post your comment.
4. Check out other people's comments and consider the possibility that you may be able to fill their requests.
5. If you can, and you want to, do so.
6. I will also scan through the comments and fill every request I can.

It's like a birthday present, but to you instead of me! Well. Also to me, because hopefully other people will help out.

AND ALSO, it was [info]ari_raid's birthday on the first. So if you happen to know her, and you haven't wished her a happy birthday, you really ought to do so.

And um if you don't want to contribute, treat this post like a regular party post - or better yet, go over to this entry on [info]aopt and spam the hell out of me.

GO GO GO!

VoicePost Help

“Hey everyone just doing this voice post because I don't have access to internet an probably won't until Monday because I am in San Francisco for a pride weekend because it's gonna be clear and day and great and just full of motorcycle apparently and parades and parties and hanging out with my aunt really isn't aunt but close enough cos they're gonna be drinking a lot, I'm not and Sherry. This should be great. I'm actually in the city right now for my sister's birthday. So if you care wish her a happy birthday. I'm sure she'll appreciate it, eventually she'll actually be on here. I'm definitely ignoring the scene because that would be great idea. I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway I will see you all on Monday. Have a great weekend. Those of you who I'll see at the parade I'll see you later. Bye.”

I actually meant to do this yesterday, but Big Bang kind of took precedence.

Anyway, for those of you involved in fandom politics as well as fandom, you may have heard of the debate/wank concerned warnings. Specifically, people arguing that warnings should not have to be issued, and people arguing that they're a necessity, especially for things like non-con and abuse.

Now, my stance on this is that I'll warn if I feel there's something to warn for, which is not really often in my fic. The exception for this is character death, and I am of mixed feelings about that. Because often it's an important twist to a story, which I don't really want to give away - but I don't know what triggers people who read my fic.

So because I don't want to assume anything, and I want this to be a friendly, pleasant place where you lot can talk about fandom with me and I can share my fic with you, I'm giving the floor to you. You don't have to tell me your secrets, you don't even have to give me your names. Anonymous comments are always enabled here.

What I'm asking is this: Is there anything in my writing or in general that you feel deserves warnings? And how would you like me to warn you?

[edit] courtesy of [info]lim, I have obtained the code for spoiler text. It will look like this:

WARNING: rape, non-con, dub-con, incest, self-harm

Code can be found on [info]sheafrotherdon's journal.

so it's 3:08 am on the 23rd, I've been granted an extension of a few hours on my Big Bang, and what I'd really like to do is sleep, but if I sleep now I'll miss the cutoff.

but there is SO MUCH FIC TO FINISH.

why did I make it so complex why did I make it so complex why was I such an idiot about Star Trek fandom?

Fanart meme, I blame you!

anyway. This is why you haven't seen me around lately. also this might be why I am sobbing like a small child when next I speak to you. There have definitely been blood, sweat, and tears involved in this process.

and um

does someone want to do the fastest beta of their lives?

Are you lot ready for some FABBO TREK ART? 8D

Good, because [info]mangotrills totally illustrated my Supertrektionary fic. 8D

also hey so um. People of the flist who are not into Star Trek and wondering when the hell I'll get back to my usual fandoms? I'm sorry my newfound obsession has alienated you. Hopefully I'll calm down enough to write something else soon. There will be Merlin long!fic and a shot Good Omens piece soon, too, if all goes well.

So I stayed up all night and read [info]ethrosdemon's fic (go check it out, do it, PTSD is a way of life is full of amazing and so is everything else she writes) and wrote this. It's. I don't even know. Cyberpunk, yes, but I don't know what or why or how or anything. or even if there's more. you guys tell me.

Sid, I'm counting on you to tell me where this is going. By the way.

Characters/Pairing: Kirk/McCoy. Scotty, Pike and Spock show up. Briefly.
Summary: An alternate take on the transporter room scene. Based on this comic (scroll down to find it).

All right you crazy awesome GQMFs, now is the time to put in your input! Don't listen to the rules - I want you to tell the absolute truth. Results go on the profile! Also, go look through - there are many awesome people who have threads going and deserve your praise.

THE TESTIMONIALS OF AWESOME MEME! // ME!!

In other news, my fic at [info]boxofmagic is almost due, and I am scrambling to get it done on time, so. I'm going to try to work exclusively on that, and if all goes well I'll be done in three days. If not... I'll complain more then. And then I'll write more other fic! But for now I am panicking like a mad panicky thing.

Fandom what fandom?

who do you ship me with?

No, actually, I do have a point to this entry. THE STAR TREK KINK MEME. Not to mention the kink meme. I'm going to attempt to link to all my fills. INCLUDING THE ANON ONES BECAUSE ANON IS OVERRATED.

ART: Flying With Foils. like running with scissors but in a wing!fic context.
FIC: An Ode. Because Trek fandom needs moar haiku.
FIC: Au Natural. Enterprise encounters a culture offended by clothing. It's serious business, folks.
FIC: SUPERTREKTIONARY. There's a glitch in the translation software. I included the prompt because you kind of need to know what I'm referencing.

To be updated, folks. :D Check back periodically!

Hello, Star Trek fans on the flist! I have begun a Sulu-fic reclist, which I know will be of interest to at least a few of you. I'd also really appreciate any input you have, fic you've read that should be on the list and whatnot.

Without further ado: The Big Damn Sulu Fic Reclist.

(Do people mind if it's on Dreamwidth? Anonymous commenting should be on, if you don't have an account and don't want to bother with OpenID. If people have a problem, I can post the actual list here too. I'd just rather not have to re-code everything.)

A question. Monthly fic roundup posts: good idea or bad? Basically, this would entail titles, links, and summaries, listed by fandom. Since it looks like I'm finally regaining my old productivity, I'll have more to list. This sound like a good plan, or should I just stick to the Delicious archive?

Next: for those of you who don't know (quite a few, I imagine) my eighteenth birthday is a month from this coming Friday. I figured, what better way to celebrate than a ficfest? Nothing official or anything, just a lot of commentfic or icons or quick sketches. Prompts and the like, y'know? Anonymous, even, if you want. Let me know if you think I'm delusional, or if you'd actually like to see this happen.

Title: A Ceasefire
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Wordcount: 381
Summary: Sulu and Spock are not the likeliest of friends.
Notes: Another one for random_fic_is_random, continuing my tradition of Sulu gen.

Fandom: BBC's Merlin
Wordcount: 673
Summary: Camelot doesn't need a dragon. She has an old king and a young wizard and a waiting sword.
Notes: I started this story with high hopes for exploring a darker Merlin and the "sword in the stone" story. This is not the place I meant for it to go.

Fandom: Star Trek XI
Wordcount: 558
Summary: Sulu visits his family.
Notes: Written for the Picture Challenge at Dreamwidth's random_fic_is_random, but also inspired by The Kobayashi Maru, a ST novel by Julia Ecklar. It has a fair amount of Sulu backstory in it that might not be completely canon, but has become my headcanon.

It's not a thousand, but I didn't think you'd mind. )
